Pickelhaube Characteristics & Rank Guide

Visor Trim
Issued visors tend to be of heavy construction and sewn to the helmet shell with thick cotton thread. The brass or silver trim on the front visors is quite wide and flat, measuring 8 mm. Privately purchased visors however, are made from a higher quality leather and sewn to the helmet shell with very fine thread. As expected, the visor trim is of much higher quality, rounded, and considerably thinner than the issued version, usually 6mm.
