Part VIII: Completing the Aufbau (Superstructure) |
This stage of the build which was started in Feb 2009 and completed in Dec of the same year, documents the completion of the Aufbau (Superstructure). In this installment you will find 30 pages covering 59 individual steps of the build with 122 photographs. Except for some disasters (as expected), this part of the build was pretty straight forward, just classic fabrication. The primary components made were: masts with platforms, front funnel searchlight platforms, railings, ship's cranes, davits, stairs, stairwells, upper bridge platform above the Fore (front) Kommandoturm (Command Tower or Armoured Bridge), canvas, and the compass platform above the Aft (back) Kommandoturm.
