Deutschland to the Rescue
A photo supplied by my friend Peter Lienau of the Deutschland Kommandoturm during construction at Friedrich Krupp, Germaniawerft, Kiel in 1904 clearly showed the unusual angles on the structure. There were lower, and upper vision slits. Although Pommern had a different number of vision slits, the basic structure was the same.

Building the Kommandoturm
I tried to build the Kommandoturm several times and was never happy with the shape. The front angles up and out with corners, while the sides angle up and out, but are rounded. I finally had to make a framework around a scrap resin funnel top using the diameter of the Kommandoturm bottom, lower vision slits, and the upper vision slits. The frame was then filled with auto-body filler, sanded to shape, and then cut in half so I could add in the lower vision slits.

Reassembled
Strips of styrene were inserted between the cut to form the vision slits and then the Kommandoturm was glued back together. Here is the bottom half with (finally) the correct shape.
