The Completed Kommandoturm Turm
Here is the completed Pommern Kommandoturm. Like the lower vision slits, the upper slits were made using strips of styrene. The top was carved to shape from several layers of styrene and the structure was glued together.

The Main Masts The main masts had to be added at this time so I could continue with the upper deck. The masts were cut from a copper pipe which fortunately had the correct diameter. Photos show that the sides of the lower masts have had small holes (for light?) along the sides, so these were drilled in.

The Lower Observation Deck
All ships in the Deutschland class had two observation decks, one mid-way up the Kommandoturm that was accessed through doors on the mast, and one on top of the Kommandoturm itself. Here are the main parts for the lower observation deck. Note that I have added the small structure behind the Kommandoturm where the access doors will be. This little structure turned out to be a disaster as you will soon see.
