Supports Under both crow's nests were supports that were rather complicated, so one perfect master was built (the white one) and then a mould was made. Using the mould, 24 exact copies were cast. This photo shows the master, the mould, and the resin castings.

Disaster It was just a matter of time before something went horribly wrong. I discovered three major errors in a row which is why the Aufbau update was delayed for over a month while I fixed the mistakes.
The first, and by far the worst, is that after I had glued all 24 cast resin supports onto both crow's nests with Cyanoacrylate (Super Glue), I turned them upright and realized to my horror that I had glued them on upside down! I had glued the long part going down, when the long part should be supporting the crow's nest. I could not believe that I had made such a stupid mistake. They would not come off, so I had to cut them all off and cast all 24 supports again. ARRGGHH!! | | |

Gluing the Supports With the new supports cast, (and using my brain this time) the supports were glued on right-side-up. I used a spare piece of the copper pipe for the main masts secured to a flat surface to ensure they were spaced and vertical. |

The Finished Crow's Nest Here is the Fore completed crow's nest. I was quite pleased and it looked very close to the original supports on the Deutschland class. It was worth the time spent to re-do them. |
