Beam Jigs

Mast Spars
They were tricky to make, but I was happy with the results. Each beam was straight on the top, tapered at both ends on the bottom, with four perfectly square holes on the front and three square holes on the back.

Searchlight Platform Beams
Careful study of period photos showed a rather complicated series of spars and beams that were supporting the mast searchlight platforms. The ][ (I-Beam) spars that support the bottom of the searchlight platforms on the masts, were made the same way as the top mast beams, but these were much shorter and quite a bit wider. The steps of each construction are numberd 1 to 6.
